Ian Yang

Ian Yang is an international business lawyer with more than two decades of experience advising some of the world’s most successful enterprises on their entry into and expansion across the U.S. and Chinese markets, with a particular emphasis on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, direct investment, and capital markets transactions. He brings a rare combination of elite law firm training, senior in-house leadership, and deep cross-jurisdictional fluency that few practitioners can offer.

Prior to joining CBC Law, Ian served as General Counsel for two high-growth, publicly listed technology companies, where he built and led legal functions spanning corporate governance, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, and M&A integration. Before transitioning in-house, Ian practiced at several of the world’s most prestigious international law firms, including Covington & Burling, Morrison & Foerster, and White & Case. He also held a senior role in the Seattle office of one of China’s leading and fastest-growing domestic law firms, giving him firsthand insight into legal strategy on both sides of the Pacific.

Ian’s practice centers on structuring complex M&A and direct investment transactions and building cross-border regulatory compliance frameworks. He has counseled numerous Fortune 100 U.S. companies on the full spectrum of legal issues arising from their operations in China and has advised Chinese enterprises and high-net-worth individuals on establishing and scaling business operations in the United States. He has been educated and trained in law in both the United Kingdom and the United States, and spent years working alongside leading international counsel in China–a background that equips him to navigate the legal, cultural, and commercial dynamics of the U.S.–China corridor with exceptional depth.
